Every so often coaches make the mistake of addressing the media outside of the context of having just played in a game. One Florida assistance called Nick Saban the devil himeself. The Vanderbilt coach called him the same thing a few months ago. Generally coaches aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, hired instead to [...]

In case you missed it a few days ago, Nick Saban said something that should have made bigger headlines than he did. It was pretty incredible. What did he say? He suggested that the five power leagues simply play each other in their non conference schedules. That’s it. Such a great idea. And he should [...]

Guest post from Dan Goldwell We already know the trendy picks to content for the Heisman this season. Of course Johnny Football comes up. Braxton Miller gets thrown around quite a bit. But don’t forget, Matt Barkley was the favorite to win it last year and I’m pretty sure he threw as many interceptions as [...]

Wow and wow again. Anyone staying up on the college football news? If not you missed two things recently. First, in what can barely be classified as news, the Big East has been renamed the “American Athletic Conference.” I gave them much better suggestions, but oh well. Secondly, turns out Auburn did a whole bunch [...]

The ever changing Big East landscape has changed once again. Tulsa will be joining the league in 2014. By my count that means of the 12 schools they will have in 2015, 9 of them were at one point members of Conference USA. Kind of like how the MWC was basically all once the WAC. [...]

It’s that time of year again, the wait between a crappy bowl season and championship game and some crappy non-conference matchups with FCS teams in September. I’m seriously considering only watching college football during October and November next season. But I digress. It’s January as of this writing and we don’t know who all will [...]

The 2012 season is now behind us, but that hasn’t kept me from wondering about what could have been. What if there had been a playoff? And not some crappy 4 team charade of a playoff. I mean a real, 8 team playoff. To give you a better idea of what we could have had, [...]

Just as predicted, San Diego State is following Boise State back to the conference they never left. This summer both schools were set to join the Big East in football and the Big West in all other sports. But with the demise of the Big East and the guaranteed money of the MWC, this was [...]
