DSC04425v1.JPGAfter being forced to cancel their planned team try out sessions earlier this month due to snow, The East Kilbride Pirates have announced a new date in January to put prospective new players through their paces.

The recruitment sessions will now take place on Sunday 16 January at Duncanrig High School, with Senior team try outs for over 18s at 11am – 1pm, and Junior team try outs for over 14s from 1pm – 3pm.

“We were really disappointed that we had to cancel the first set of sessions,” commented team Marketing Manager Amanda McDonald, “And we have our fingers crossed that the weather won’t be a problem for us this time. Attendees should wear clothing suitable for training outdoors on Astroturf in winter and should check the team’s website nearer the time for further updates. We really hope the people who expressed an interest earlier in the month will be able to make it along to the new date.”

The Pirates welcome new recruits from all over Central Scotland, and even further beyond – as the team’s roster currently includes players from as far afield as Cumbria and even Michigan in the US. Experience isn’t needed, and as there are lots of different positions in the team – there’s something for every size and shape and level of fitness.

During the sessions, rookies will get an introduction to the basics of the sport. This includes an overview of the game and the chance to run through some drills to give each of the different positions on the field a try.
