Ryan Matthews Returns to Practice for San Diego Chargers

Chargers‘ rookie running back Ryan Mathews was able to take part in Wednesday’s practice without restrictions. This was an encouraging sign that his ankle injury may not be as serious as initially feared.
Mathews, the team’s top draft pick, injured his ankle in the first quarter of a Week 2 game against Jacksonville. He did not return, and subsequently was held out of last Sunday’s 27-20 loss at Seattle.
